ABK constitutes reconciliation committee
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Considering the tussle over the headquarter issue of Siang district, the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) has constituted a reconciliation committee for providing a forum for mutual discussion by the concern party and to resolve the issue.
In a release, it also appealed to the people of the district to maintain peace and tranquility and to solve the issue amicably for the greater interest of the people.
ASH service disrupted
Itanagar, Dec 17: The Arunachal State Hospital (ASH) Naharlagun will not admit patients in the department of Gynae including labour room indefinitely. Chief Medical Superintendent of the ASH Dr. R.D. Khrime informed that the construction company of the new building of the hospital has repeatedly damaged water supply, drainage and septic tanks in the hospital. There has been no replacements of septic tanks which has caused damages to toilets of operation theatre, gynae ward and female ward. The hospital has already started construction of septic tank.

SCC carries out Cleanliness Drive in Hija Village
Ziro, Dec 17: The NSS units of Saint Claret College Ziro successfully conducted their first annual NSS Special Camp from 15 to 16 December. The Camp was held at Hija village in Ziro and was attended by around 70 NSS Claretines under the able supervision of the programme officers, Withoam Socia and Tasso Tagia. The Camp focused on giving cleanliness and hygiene awareness and undertaking a cleanliness drive, along the lines of the “Swachh Bharat” Mission of the Prime Minister. Proudly wearing NSS Caps and Badges, the volunteers braved the chilly December weather of Ziro and worked their hearts out confirming the natural goodness and the spirit of generosity of the youth.

Construction of Yammeng hydropower
YINGKIONG, Dec 17 : Yammeng Hydro power Project with a capacity to generate12 MW Power is all set to be constructed soon over the Yammeng river. The decision was unanimously adopted in a joint consultative meeting of the Project affected people of Simong and Gobuk villages held in the Tourist Hall here yesterday in presence of the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tariq Thomas. All the Project affected villagers, Gaon Buras and PRI members agreed to the proposal of construction on the basis of land compensation, employment opportunities and other welfare measures for the affected villagers and land owners under the laid down provisions of memorandum of agreement between State Government and Yammeng Green Energy Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Thomas clarified all doubts and confusion of the Project affected people in regard to the land compensation and other benefits to be taken up by the company.
The Director, Yammeng Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. stated that the Project would cover an area of 8.7 hectares of land and committed to complete the construction within three years. The works will be started as soon as environmental clearance and DPRs is completed. The Joint consultative committee of the two villages submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and the Pvt. ASHAs trained on control and prevention of vector borne diseases
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) of Lower Subansiri district were trained on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated malaria cases in batch wise training conducted by Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) in collaboration with District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.
The last batch of the series of training conducted at Ziro on December 15 and 16 was attended by 37 ASHAs.
Subu Habung, DVBDCPO, Lower Subansiri, N Tabyo, DVB Consultant, Chaitan Kumar, DPO VHAI, VP Gulati, Regional BCC Officer and Sonam Dreama, DEO were the main resource persons.
VHAI has so far trained 200 ASHAs for the control of malaria in the district.
It is pertinent to mention here that ASHAs play a crucial role in prevention and control of malaria and other vector borne diseases at the community.
VHAI in collaboration with NVBDCP, Caritas India is building capacity of the ASHA to fight malaria in Arunachal Pradesh.

Expressing deep shock at his untimely demise, Home Minister Tanga Byaling today said that he was an upright officer whose death was a loss to the entire department. He conveyed his deep sense of condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
The HM along with senior police officers including SP T Ringu, ASP Deepankar Mishra, Itanagar P S OC inspector T Bage and Naharlgun PS OC inspector Kalom Pait along with other police personnel paid their last respect when the mortal remains arrived here today, before being taken to his native village Bagra for the last rites tomorrow.
Bagra had joined the department as SI on January 11, 1988 and served in PHQ, Tirap, U/Subansiri, Changlang, L/Subansiri, K/Kumey, P/Pare rural, Lohit and W/Siang districts, before being posted as Nahalargun police station OC on September 3, 2013.

ICDWA oppose installation of cables in the highways of Itanagar
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: The Itanagar City Development Welfare Association (ICDWA) has sought stoppage of the installation work of electrical/cable poles that are being carried out in the highways of Itanagar claiming that it will lead to unnecessary expenditure of state exchequer.
In its letter addressed to the Capital Complex DC, it said that the installation is a waste of public exchequer as the construction of four lane highway will begin early next year which will hamper the installed cables.

ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti recently organized a series of free medical camps at Angkling, Waringpam, Chamdrung and Brokpublaching villages under Khalaktang circle of West Kameng district. Chamdrung is the last village of India and is very near to Bhutan.
A total of 157 patients were examined and free medicines distributed during the camps conducted by Vivekananda Kendra mobile medical team of doctor along with Dr. K Deru, M O of Shergaon PHC. Rupa ZPM Sange Tashi accompanied the team and gave valuable guidance.
KVK SAC meeting held

Two arrested in RKM Hospital assault case, doctors to resume work
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Two persons have been arrested in the Rama Krishna Mission Hospital assault case. The main accused has been identified as Hari Tacho, a constable, under 2nd IRBn constable. He is currently posted as Personal Security Officer to PPA MLA Nikh Kamin.
The Police are hopeful of arresting all involved soon.
An Emergency Medical Officer was assaulted on Dec 12 by a group of men who had come with a patient forcing the doctors to go on protest.
Meanwhile, the doctors will resume services from 9 AM Dec 18 as decided. The doctors had refused to work from Dec 16 in protest against repeated assault on doctors while they discharge their duties.
A report states that the govt has beefed up security at the hospital.
The Home minister Tanga Byaling today visited the hospital and interacted with the doctors. He is reported to have assured to provide adequate security and establish a permanent police beat near the casualty wing of the hospital. He also assured the doctors that strict action would be taken against the culprits. The RKMH Doctors Association, meanwhile, has hoped that capital administration and police would provide adequate security to all health personnel in the capital.
The Association also hoped that a stringent law can be enacted to stop assaults of medical professionals.
The doctors have apologized to the general public for the hardship faced because of the shutdown.
“It was done with a good intention to sensitize the general public about the hardship faced by the health professionals during duty time” a statement read.

Indira Gandhi Park is in shambles. Broken benches, scattered rubbish and clogged streams are some of the characteristics of this park located in the heart of Itanagar.
A little more venturing into the serenity of the park and the visitors are welcomed by the feces as if ridiculing government’s campaign of Total Sanitation and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The park lacks the basic necessity of a proper toilet and drinking water facility, adding woe for the visitors.
“What to do? There’s no toilet in the park. Where else will the people go if they have to?” lamented a jogger who is a regular.
Not a single dustbin can be seen in and around the park area.
Also, domestic animals can, sometimes, be seen grazing on the lush greenery.

New Delhi, Dec 17: Government is planning to construct a road in Arunachal Pradesh to provide connectivity to people living in area bordering China, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh, in a written reply, told the Lok Sabha that government is giving careful and specific attention to the development of infrastructure in all the border areas in order to meet the "strategic and security requirements" and facilitate economic development. "Ministry of Home Affairs is considering examination of a plan for construction of a lateral road from Tawang to Vijaynagar in Changlang district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh to provide livelihood or connectivity to the border population and for the development of the border area," the Minister said.
He said Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India and it has been clearly conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions, including at the highest level. PTI
Mysterious stone pillars found in Namdapha Tiger Reserve
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: A patrolling and camera trapping team of Namdapha National Park
(Tiger Reserve) has found hundreds of mysterious stone pillars in the Kodboi mountain
peak under the Reserve area recently. The team led by Hemmar Nyorak, Assistant Field
Director and Lichi Karlo, Range Officer along with six Protection Force staff of
Namdapha National Park (Tiger Reserve) started tracking from 25th Mile protection
camp along MV road on December 9 last and reached the highest peak of south-
The stones are erected in rectangular shape of 3m x 4m and 4m x 5m of four stone in each corner. The height of the stones is 0.8m to 1.6m, and are placed at the same height and arranged in a rectangular manner. It has been observed that stone has no any inscription on them and the size of the stone are in oval shape. This is the first time these mysterious stone pillars have been sighted in the peak of the mountain.
An official release further informed that even the local people of the area under Miao Circle and the park authority have no idea about the existence of such type of mysterious pillars in Namdapha National Park.
No conclusive evidences could be drawn so far as to whether it was a war memorial or the remains of an ancient village, the release said.
However, the team member observed that the stone pillars may be of more than 300 years old because most of the trees available in the area are hollock and jutuli which may be of 200 years to 300 years old with very dense vegetation.
Tuki raises issue of racial discrimination with NCST
ITANAGAR, Dec 17: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has raised the issue of racial discrimination meted to the people of North East and requested the commission to look into the matter seriously. He conveyed this to the Chairperson of National Commission for Schedule Tribe (NCST) and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India Dr. Rameshwar Oraon who along with Director K D Bansal and Under Secretary Rajesh Kumar called on him at his offices here this afternoon.
He strongly advocated implementing the Bezbarua Committee report and including a subject on tribes, culture and tradition of Northeast in CBSE syllabus. “Arunachal being a cent percent tribal state, Government of India should consider opening of a Tribal University,” Tuki reasoned while assuring to provide land for the purpose. He further mentioned about Tribal Scholarship to be given to the students pursuing professional courses inside and outside the state.
The Chief Minister has requested the (NCST) and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India to make necessary corrections in the nomenclature of various tribes of the state which are wrongly depicted.
Citing examples on wrong depiction of name of the tribes in the ST certificates, which have been hampering the local youths to get the desired benefits provided by the Centre as well as state government, Tuki said that numerous representation and proposals have already been forwarded to the ministry for consideration. He urged the visiting chairperson to impress upon the ministry to clear the pending issues at the earliest.
While assuring all possible help, NCST Chairperson requested the state government to constitute a State ST Commission for safeguarding the interest of STs in the state. He said that the National Commission for Schedule Tribe would be sending a recommendation on the line. While sharing his experience over the visit to various locations in the state, Rameshwar disclosed that there were few genuine grievances of the tribals which would be taken up in right earnest.
The Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma at Raj Bhawan, Itanagar today. AUFC dominated the proceeding right from start as it took just four minutes to score the first goal by Biri joy.
Captain Bunung Taja scored four goals in first half and another in second half to take his tally to eight goals in the tournament.

BASAR, Dec 17: The 16th Gori Open Football Tournament got underway on Tuesday with Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture Mutchu Mithi declaring the tournament open in a glittering ceremony here at Gori playground.
With the message that sports can have a positive impact on a person’s wellbeing and on a society, the Parliamentary Secretary said the effect is all visible in Basar with people here excelling in all fields.
Appreciating the zeal and enthusiasm in people have for the sports, he said the passion for sports is well exhibited through well maintained sports infrastructures and good quality football fields in Basar.
As encouragement towards sports, the Parliamentary Secretary announced Rs Six Lakhs for the Gori playground under Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi’s MPLAD funds.
Lauding the Basar community of its rich culture and as an organized society, he said Basar has so much to give to Arunachal and there is so much to learn from here.
“A mere glance of the area and its people gives us enough clues as to why people here as a community and as a clan are ahead in all aspects. The symbiotic relationship the people here have with their land and the nature is their greatest strength,” said the Parliamentary Secretary.
“Arunachali people consider land and forest as its home. Without considering these symbiotic relationships people have with the nature, development of Arunachal can be very difficult,” said the Parliamentary Secretary.
Twenty teams are participating in this year’s tournament from all over West Siang district. An AIDS awareness camp with the theme – ‘Talk AIDS, Stop AIDS’ also went underway along with the tournament organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Aids Control Society (APSACS).

Now, Panchayati Raj Department, Govt Of Arunachal Pradesh have One Dy. Director (Technical wing), 177 TAs/JEs and 591 Cashier cum computer Assistant who can assist during and after implementation of work.
So, RD Department should hand over the MGNREGA scheme to the Panchayat Department

Don’t let us repeat
Dear Editor,
In spite of repeated appeal to make Likabali as temporary headquarter and Sikirima as permanent headquarter for the once upon a time created Åower Siang district, I dont understand why exactly the state govt is not able to declare it. The other new districts are already functioning which were created after the lower Siang. As said “a wearer knows where the shoe pinches”, we too know why we are so eager to have the headquarter at these places. We have to face atrocities created by neighbouring state of Assam. Moreover, the security concern is also one big point.
However, our state govt in general and some leader in particular whom we voted to look after our problems do not seem to be much concerned. In fact they tried to suppress our bandh call by deploying many armed forces. They even took many elderly to custody and did not even spare the women. This unfriendly behaviour by the govt has created confusion as why such steps were taken. The democratic way should be respected by the govt. As we are law abiding citizens, we respect our constitution and dont want to indulge in unconstitutional means. That’s the reason the bandh call of DDJAC went peacefully. I hope now the govt will take its decision promptly and will not make us go for our next phases for bandh calls. Moreover, the 3 Ps i.e Prayer, Petition and Protest will be given due consideration.

Conduct APPSCCE (mains) exam afresh
Dear Editor,
It is a matter of grave concern that the APPSCCE (Mains) Exam 2013-
No doubt, it has jeopardized the future of so many young promising candidates who are in the fray. If this corrupt practice was committed by the Commission then there is every possibility that other papers might have also been leaked through backdoors.
So, it will be a natural justice to all the aspiring candidates that the entire examination should be cancelled.
We have come to know that Commission of enquiry by a magistrate has been conducted
and report of the same has already been submitted to the Government. But till date
no action has been initiated against the erring official(s) responsible for the act.
Government is maintaining tight-
It is worth mentioning that the present Commission had conducted examination in a questionable circumstances in past many occasions for instances (1) During 2009 Preliminary Exams more than 2500 candidates were rejected but later were allowed to appear the same accepting their mistakes, (2) During 2013 Preliminary Exam, result of 98 candidates were withheld citing mistakes in filling up the application forms but were allowed to appear the main exams and (3) During 2012 Exams for recruitment of Assistant Engineer, the creditability of the Commission was highly criticized resulting into destruction of Commission’s office building.
Considering the facts, it is pertinent to mention that all these examinations were conducted by the present Commission in a suspicious manner.
Therefore, the Government is urged to take serious view on this matter and take necessary action at the earliest by cancelling the entire exams and declare a fresh date for conducting the same without causing further mental stress to the aspiring candidates who are in dilemma about their future.
